IoT Associations

TThe Internet of Things (IoT) plays an increasing role in the modern world. It dictates both our daily lives at home and the office and how we manufacture products and machines. The idea of connected devices that exchange data, including sensitive personal information, at all times comes with some serious privacy concerns.

IoT is still a relatively new technology, so, in many cases, there isn’t an all-encompassing set of rules and regulations. There are still several influential associations that gather knowledgeable individuals who produce regulations and proposals. These should make using the IoT safer and more efficient. Let’s have a look at some of the more important among these.

The Internet of Things Consortium

The IoTC is a leading association for business development in the IoT ecosystem. Innovators, companies, and individual executives working in the field come together in it. The mission of the Internet of Things Consortium is to promote partnership between companies in the field. They strive to promote the faster adoption of IoT in everyday life. They also make strides toward sharing know-how on the subjects related to the field.

Alliance for Internet of Things Innovations

The Brussel-based AIoTI is the leading Internet of Things organization in the EU. Its most important efforts are to drive the introduction of policies, research, and innovations when it comes to the IoT. Even though the AIoTI focuses on legislation and innovations within the European Union, its activities impact the global scene of the Internet of Things. When European businesses become better and better at adopting the IoT and Edge computing, they come to the forefront of technology and manufacturing. They have already managed to influence several fields and industries, including but not limited to:

The Internet of Things Association

The IoT Association is a rather influential forum for discussions of innovation and research in the field of the Internet of Things. It brings together manufacturers, service providers, and end-users to figure out a range of topics, including application, security, and common standards. The Internet of Things Association organizes four main events each year. Most of the events take place in London, UK.

The driving force behind IoTa is the company Smartex. They are known for holding forums on many issues related to information technology. Smartex has considerable influence on the advancement of higher education, transport and banking initiatives, and smart technologies.

The Internet Society (ISOC)

The non-profit Internet Society is by far the most substantial US organization dealing with all things internet. IoT makes no exception. ISOC aims at promoting the development and evolution of the internet. The use and security of the Internet of Things depend on their work as well. Its offices are in Reston, Virginia, and Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded in 1992, making it one of the oldest internet associations in the world. Among ISOC’s various activities are the publications of reports that drive policy on internet security and use. They advocate end-to-end encryption and secure routing protocols. These directly impact some of the concerns about the Internet of Things.
